UC Davis is well recognized for our outstanding classical hematology faculty, and several of the unique components of our fellowship including the continuity clinics and the opportunity to participate in the MCRTP (mentored clinical research training program) will all strongly complement the HFFTP program, ensuring holistic training for the fellows."
The continuity clinics are fellow-run, independent clinics with close supervision by relevant faculty. The MCRTP is a two-year curriculum that can be integrated into fellowship training with coursework in epidemiology, biostatistics, clinical research and clinical trial design, research ethics, informatics, and a mentored research project. This program is part of the rich training environment of the NIH-funded UC Davis Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC) and leads to a Master of Advance Study in Clinical Research.

The UC Davis Hematology and Oncology Fellowship Program is committed to training future hematologists who excel in clinical care and scholarship through our innovative HFFTP track.
Our curriculum includes multi-disciplinary non-malignant blocks (transfusion medicine, thrombosis, sickle cell/hemoglobinopathies and hemophilia/bleeding disorders) with integrated clinical, laboratory and research components. Fellows participate in malignant hematology, bone marrow transplant and cellular therapy rotations which include multidisciplinary ambulatory clinics. A unique component of our fellowship training includes a hematology-focused continuity clinic in which the trainee will have their own patient panel and case manager.
UC Davis has abundant clinical opportunities for trainees interested in hematology including: a HRSA/CDC-funded Hemophilia Treatment Center, Adult Sickle Cell Clinic and Pediatric Comprehensive Hemoglobinopathy Clinic, Iron Disorders Clinic, Genetics Clinic, Vascular Center, and robust hematological malignances and cellular therapy program and bone marrow transplant service. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine manage an excellent Transfusion Medicine program, Apheresis Program, Special Coagulation Laboratory, and Hematopathology Program. The Department of Pharmacy oversees a robust inpatient and outpatient Anticoagulation Service. We have formal affiliations with Kaiser Permanente and the VA Northern California Health Care System which allow trainees to participate in systems-based hematology across multiple health systems. Opportunities for scholarly work include training in clinical trials, outcomes research, laboratory and translational research and cellular and gene therapy.
